   Proposal Description:
   The overarching goal is to explore the sex-dependent APOE effect on AD using a structural-behavioral causal analysis. Our hypothesis is that a better understanding of the sex-dependent effect of APOE on AD could provide a novel insight into AD pathogenesis and lead to personalized therapeutic regimes. To do so, we will develop several novel statistical regression and causal inference methods to answer the scientific questions of how genetic/non-genetic determinants regulate the pathogenetic mechanism of APOE at the sex-specific level and how environmental exposures involve in the sex-by-APOE interaction. After that, we will integrate the discovered causal effects into our current computer-assisted diagnostic engine and explore explainable AI in the early AD diagnosis.
